Calgary Bridges

Downtown Calgary is nestled in a bend of the Bow River, and the city has done a lovely job with a riverfront pathway and parks. There are numerous bridges crossing the river, including some dedicated for pedestrians and cyclists. Many are visually striking, providing aesthetic pleasure in addition to their function. The George C. King Bridge to St. Patrick’s Island, close to where we were staying, and the Peace Bridge were particularly sculptural. One of the vehicle bridges near where we were staying had pretty color changing lights, and also had beautiful banners.
