Shards

Artists: Bonnie Sucec and Day Christensen

More wonderful sculpture in the main branch of the Salt Lake City Public Library, Shards are large beautifully colored glass sculptures hung in various locations around the building. I mostly noticed them in stairwell spaces, and particularly enjoyed the blue one – loveloveLOVE that blue glass – at the top floor and the way it interacted with the surrounding bannister and the shape of the turret and light and shadow from the window. Again, it always amazes me how most people seem to be not noticing these things, but I suppose if you go there more often maybe it does become another piece of furniture/part of the background.
