Yes I definitely went for a bike ride yesterday, but not too bad all things considered. And there’s breakfast at my hotel. Oh Best Western breakfast how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…

After packing myself full of food I packed up the car and hit the road. Drove out 62, this was the start of the ride yesterday, in the dark. Today, in the light oh hey there ARE Joshua trees. Cool.

Which again prompted a bit of reflection/note to self to pay more attention to what I sign up for! I’d gotten all excited about Joshua Tree hey I’ve been there it’s pretty cool but we didn’t actually ride in the park at all, and there was a whole stretch of the ride on Highway 10. Ah well, live and learn. Well, live anyway.

Part of me just wanted to get home, but I wasn’t super excited by the thought of a long day in the car, and my family was on the way-ish. So I took the opportunity to visit them and split the drive up into two chunks.

The first was some navigation through Southern California freeways, good adventures there and made it to 101 in one piece. It had been a long time since I’d been on 101 south of San Luis Obispo, much of it is very pretty. I’d seen on the map that I would go by some Missions, and saw the signs, but ended up not having time to stop (sorry Grandma.)

Oh yeah that being out in the sun and wind. Eye drops and lip balm were in order. And a visit and great hamburger dinner with Mom, sister and WCN. Next day a visit with Dad and drove the rest of the way home. Ah yes! My own bed and all of that. Awesome to have fantastic adventures and wonderful to have a place to return to.
