<<< previous day <<<
Peaceful sleep, a wonderful breakfast with friends and the temptation of a hammock in their meadow, but I was compelled to get back on the road and head to Tacoma. The main, and I thought only, reason for this particular destination was to check out the Museum of Glass. Perhaps since I was not expecting much beyond that I was quite pleasantly surprised.
For some reason the hilliness of the city surprised me as well. Somehow that helps to give a bit of character to a place. There were some neat old buildings, and public art. The Karpeles Manuscript Library was a random bonus, and the chatty Tacoma native docent pointed me to the Botanical Conservatory and Point Defiance Park, among other places.
I felt like I just skimmed the surface, and would definitely consider going back and spending more time in the area. Go figure!
From Tacoma I continued on to visit other friends who live in the Seattle area.
